Le Scalette Rooftop Rooms is a twenty-two-room boutique hotel in a palazzo on Via Gregoriana, the quiet street that runs down from the church of Trinità dei Monti towards Via Sistina. The rooms, on the upper floors of the building, feature ceilings with exposed beams, terracotta floors and Carrara marble bathrooms; some have a balcony with views over the rooftops of the centre and the dome of St Peter's.
The crowning glory is the panoramic terrace on the sixth floor, where breakfast is served with fresh produce and where the bar opens at sunset. Piazza di Spagna and the boutiques of Via Condotti are a two-minute walk away, the Spagna stop on metro line A five minutes. The 24-hour reception arranges transfers and guided tours.

Un hôtel plein de charme, avec des poutres apparentes et des salles de bains en marbre de Carrare. Le petit-déjeuner sur la terrasse, face à Trinità dei Monti, vaut à lui seul le séjour. La chambre twin était calme et bien climatisée. Le personnel, disponible jour et nuit, nous a réservé une visite guidée du Colisée. Le rooftop bar est très agréable le soir.
Palazzo elegante in una via tranquilla a due passi dalla scalinata. Camera superior curata, con bagno in marmo e letto comodo; la vista dalla terrazza al tramonto è impagabile. Colazione buona ma un po' affollata nel weekend, meglio scendere presto. Il personale ci ha aiutato con le prenotazioni per i Musei Vaticani. Il prezzo è in linea con la zona.
We spent three nights in the junior suite and loved every minute. The private terrace caught the evening sun and the view of St Peter's dome was magical. Staff were warm and genuinely helpful, organising a driver to Fiumicino and recommending a wonderful trattoria nearby. Breakfast on the rooftop, with fresh cornetti and cappuccino, was the perfect start to each day.
De ligging is fantastisch: vanaf het dakterras kijk je uit over de daken van Rome en de Spaanse Trappen liggen om de hoek. Onze standaardkamer was wel aan de kleine kant, maar mooi ingericht met houten balken en een goede airco. Het ontbijt op het terras was uitstekend, vooral de verse vruchtensappen. Lift is er gelukkig ook.
Desayunar en la azotea con vista a Trinità dei Monti es algo que no se olvida. Nuestra habitación deluxe tenía un balcón pequeño pero con una vista preciosa sobre los tejados, cama enorme y baño de mármol. La calle es tranquilísima a pesar de estar a dos minutos de Piazza di Spagna. El personal de recepción nos trató de maravilla.
