Hotel Domus Celimontana sits on Via Claudia, the tree-lined street that climbs from the Colosseum towards Villa Celimontana, and many of its forty-eight rooms look out onto the amphitheatre. The interiors combine travertine, oak and brass, with generous beds, bathrooms with walk-in showers and a whisper-quiet air-conditioning system. Two rooms are fully accessible and the lift goes all the way up to the rooftop.
The roof terrace is where it all happens: breakfast in the morning with the Colosseum in view, aperitivo at sunset with cocktails made from herbs grown on the Celio. The hotel provides free bicycles for reaching the Appian Way and the Baths of Caracalla. The Colosseo stop on metro line B is three hundred metres away, the Roman Forum a five-minute walk.

Struttura curatissima a due passi dal Colosseo. La camera twin che abbiamo prenotato era accessibile, con bagno spazioso e maniglioni, perfetta per mia madre. Colazione abbondante sul rooftop, con vista che lascia senza fiato. Il personale ci ha aiutato con i biglietti per il Foro e ci ha consigliato una trattoria ottima sul Celio. Unico neo, parcheggio non disponibile.
Hotel moderno, muy limpio y con un personal encantador. Nuestra habitación superior era silenciosa a pesar de estar tan cerca del Coliseo, y el baño con ducha de lluvia era estupendo. El desayuno en la azotea, con el Coliseo delante, es de lo mejor de nuestro viaje. El metro está a tres minutos y el Foro Romano a cinco. Volveremos.
Man geht aus der Tür und steht fast am Kolosseum. Das Hotel selbst ist modern und gepflegt, unser Superior-Zimmer hatte ein sehr gutes Bett und ein leises Klimagerät. Das Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse ist reichhaltig, mit frischem Obst und guten Eierspeisen. Abends ist der Aperitivo dort oben sehr beliebt, man sollte früh kommen. Die kostenlosen Fahrräder waren ein Bonus.
从房间的阳台就能看到斗兽场，晚上亮灯的时候特别美。酒店的早餐在屋顶露台，种类很多，有新鲜的水果和现磨咖啡。房间干净安静，床很舒服，浴室是步入式淋浴。前台帮我们订了古罗马广场的门票，还免费借了自行车去阿皮亚古道。离地铁B线斗兽场站只要走三分钟。价格合理，非常推荐。
Eating breakfast on the rooftop with the Colosseum right in front of you is something else. Our deluxe room had a small balcony looking at the arches, a king bed and a rain shower. The staff were faultless, especially the concierge who sorted out early-access tickets to the Forum. Slight street noise from the tour buses in the morning, but worth it.
Distances are measured in a straight line from Piazza Venezia.
