Casa dei Santi Quattro is a family-run bed and breakfast on the second floor of a palazzo on the Celio, opposite the complex of Santi Quattro Coronati and five hundred metres from the Colosseum. The six rooms have original floors, coffered ceilings, wrought-iron beds, air conditioning and private bathrooms with showers; each one is named after one of Rome's hills. Breakfast, with home-made tarts, fresh bread and cappuccino made to order, is served in the lounge or brought straight to your room.
Rita and Paolo, the owners, welcome guests personally and know exactly which trattorias to recommend, which routes are off the beaten track and the best time to visit the Colosseum without the crowds. Luggage storage is free, and the metro line B stop is an eight-minute walk away.

Wat een fijne plek. De kamer was sfeervol, met een origineel plafond en een comfortabel bed, en het was er verrassend stil voor een locatie zo dicht bij het Colosseum. Het ontbijt op de kamer, met zelfgebakken taart en verse cappuccino, was elke ochtend een feest. Rita en Paolo gaven ons de beste tips voor restaurants. Absoluut een aanrader.
Небольшой семейный отель с душевной атмосферой. Хозяева встретили нас лично, помогли с багажом и рассказали, где вкусно поесть без туристических наценок. Номер с высокими потолками был чистым и тихим, кондиционер работал отлично. Завтрак домашний: пироги, свежий хлеб, отличный капучино. До Колизея пешком пять минут. Лифта нет, но это единственное неудобство.
B&B piccolo e curatissimo di fronte ai Santi Quattro Coronati. La camera tripla era spaziosa, con letto in ferro battuto e bagno nuovo, e la via è silenziosa nonostante il Colosseo a pochi passi. La colazione in camera con crostata e cappuccino è stata una coccola. Rita ci ha consigliato una trattoria sul Celio che ora è la nostra preferita.
A lovely, personal place to stay. Our superior room had a tiny balcony over a quiet street, a comfortable iron bed and strong air conditioning. Breakfast was homemade and generous, with a different cake every day. Paolo gave us the best advice on when to visit the Colosseum to avoid the queues. No elevator, so be ready for two flights of stairs.
Rita et Paolo nous ont accueillis comme des amis, avec un café et une carte du quartier annotée à la main. Notre chambre, au plafond à caissons, était calme et impeccable, avec une salle de bains toute neuve. Le petit-déjeuner, tartes maison et cappuccino, était servi dans le salon à l'heure qui nous arrangeait. Le Colisée est à cinq minutes à pied. Parfait.
