Casa Mattatoio is an early-20th-century building converted into six light-filled apartments, a stone's throw from the Testaccio Market and the former slaughterhouse, now a cultural hub. Every apartment has high ceilings, original cement-tile floors, a full kitchen with coffee machine and washing machine, air conditioning and a balcony onto the inner courtyard, where it is perfectly quiet even at weekends.
Testaccio is the home of authentic Roman cooking: historic trattorias, bakeries and the covered market are a few minutes away, and in the evening the surrounding streets fill up with locals. Metro line B from Piramide takes you to the Colosseum in two stops; the Aventine Hill, with its Orange Garden, is a ten-minute walk. Pets are welcome.

Снимали пентхаус на четыре ночи. Терраса с видом на крыши Тестаччо стала лучшим местом для завтрака, который мы готовили сами из продуктов с рынка. В квартире есть всё: стиральная машина, посудомойка, хорошая кофемашина. Район тихий, но живой, вечером полно римлян в тратториях. До Колизея на метро всего две остановки. Хозяин отвечал быстро и дал отличные советы.
Nos quedamos cinco noches en la suite familiar con nuestros tres hijos. Espacio de sobra, dos baños y una cocina completa que nos permitió ahorrar en cenas. El barrio es tranquilo de noche y de día está lleno de vida, con panaderías y el mercado a un paso. El metro queda a unos ocho minutos andando. Repetiríamos sin dudarlo.
We rented the studio for a week and it felt like living in Rome rather than visiting. The market two blocks away became our morning ritual, and the apartment had everything we needed, including a proper espresso machine. The bed was firm but comfortable, and the little balcony was perfect for an evening glass of wine. Bring your own shampoo.
Très bel appartement, hauts plafonds et carreaux d'époque, avec une cuisine bien équipée et une machine à laver. Testaccio est un quartier vivant et sincère, loin des pièges à touristes : les trattorias autour du marché sont excellentes. Petit bémol, l'immeuble n'a pas d'ascenseur et notre logement était au troisième étage. L'hôte a été réactif et sympathique.
Appartamento con due camere, luminoso e silenziosissimo grazie al balcone sul cortile. La cucina è completa, abbiamo cucinato con gli ingredienti comprati al mercato di Testaccio a due minuti. Il nostro cane è stato accolto con una ciotola e un tappetino. La metro Piramide è vicina e in due fermate si è al Colosseo. Torneremo senz'altro.
